Hi! First off, thank you for having this site! Very helpful and encouraging!

My question as per the topic subject might be silly but I had my first experience with a half-a-pea size hemorrhoid 5 days ago. It doesn't hurt, itch or bleed...it's just there and it looks weird coz I am sure it wasn't there before. I've been putting ice on it 2x a day coz I'm hoping and praying it will disappear. It has shrunk in size i think and it goes in by itself without waiting for a push so to speak. Anyway...would you happen to know if when it heals, that part of me will go back to looking normal?

I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday too just to make sure because like my username, I tend to be paranoid and I am already thinking of very bad things! But I saw some of the pictures on your site and mine looks very similar to one of them.

Thanks for reading...and to the rest...hope all hemorrhoids in the whole wide world completely heal and disappear!

Hi. Great site here. Very helpful. I know self diagnosis is not recommended and is usually wrong. However, in this case, I think I may be right.

I'm a 25 yro male weighing at 90 kgs. I weighed just over 100 kgs about a year ago which is when I first noticed blood when wiping after a stool. Actually no; come to think of it.....I had an external hemorrhoid when I was 18. I am absolutely sure of this. But there was no blood and I often strain to quickly dispose of stools. The first sign of blood was last year and I thought I had torn my anus a little. Since then, I have suffered on and off with painful bowel movement and external hemorrhoids. I can't be 100% but I believe I also have internal hemorrhoids.

Over the past few weeks, there has been a considerable amount of bright red blood in the WC and when wiping. Occasionally there are clots when wiping. Less than an hour ago, there was more clotting than I have experienced before. I am guessing this is a prolapsed hemorrhoid. I have been hoping this problem will go away. Will it?

PS - I work from home and sit quite alot but i sit on a very comfortable reclining couch. I spend as little time on the wc as possible. I do have a high meat diet and don't eat much veg. I do not exercise regularly. And I am married with kids...so no anal sex before.

Hi, your website is really helpful, however I am not sure whether I am suffering from hemorrhoids or something else. I am 27, not overweight and have a fairly healthy diet and exercise regime. For the last couple of years I have experienced pain whilst passing stools and have also had some blood when wiping. I thought that it may have been external hemorrhoids as I had small lumps of skin/flesh outside of my anus. I went to my doctor who provided me with a cream called anusol. I have been using this on and off for some time and have not seen any improvement or change in my symptoms.
I only experience pain whilst passing a stool and there is no burning sensation or pain afterwards. Could this be something other than a hemorrhoid or would you recommend returning to the doctor?

Any advice very gratefully received.

I am a 23 year old female. I am pretty thin, and appear to be in good shape. (105 lbs) I was about 15 the first time I had a hemorrhoid. Everything about my lifestyle contributed to it- being home schooled a the time, not eating a balanced diet, straining often... It was external, and my mom took me to the doctor, who wasn't at all phased, and said there was really nothing that could be done. No one gave me any answers, tips, or solutions but my mom got me tucks medicated wipes which hardly did anything. As time went on, I did little to improve the condition and it only worsened. I was depressed, alone, and really unaware that I was making things much worse. After a few years and having researched it on my own, I tried creams like preparation H, which didn't seem to do anything, and tried to eat a more balanced diet. Now at the age of 23, I have multiple large and painful external hemorrhoids, and according to my doctor a month ago, internal hemorrhoids as well. Since they began, they have caused me more grief and embarrassment than I ever though imaginable. She prescribed me "anu-cort" suppositories, which seem to do hardly anything except cause leakage, and also gave me a business card for a local establishment called 'surgical specialists.' I suppose I should consult them before making a decision, but I am at the point where I am in so much pain, embarrassed every day, and just ashamed of myself, and I think surgery might be the only option left for me. I am afraid of complications, and I also have no idea about costs- I am insured with a low plan through my work, but I'm not even sure that would cover any of it- however, I would pay absolutely any amount of money to end my misery. Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you so much.

I have 1 internal hem and a small skin tag from a fissure from several years ago. Neither bother me or cause any problems. I eat well and exercise almost daily. However, due to circumstances I can't figure out, I had a really bad BM a few weeks ago. A few days later, I had a curious itch down there. No pain, no bleeding. The itch went away after a few days. I went on a trip and drank lots of alcohol over a weekend. When I returned, the itching came back with a vengeance and so did some pain when I passed gas. It got worse over the course of a few days so I went to see my butt doctor. He is not a surgery crazy doctor, very conservative...thank God. He took one look and said it was a small thrombosed hemorrhoid...or a blood clot as he called it initially. He said it was not a big deal, nothing serious and would go away in a few weeks.

However, that was yesterday and today the itching has returned and it's sore after every fart. Maybe he got it inflamed when he poked that thing in there to inspect it? The LAST thing I want is to have this thing just continue to get worse over time. Like most everyone who has turned to the web for information on hems, 99% of the posts are utter nightmares that make you want to slit your wrists when reading them. I have never seen a single positive response from anyone who ended up getting surgery...just horrible nightmare posts.

What I have is very small, just irritating...literally. It itches, is only sore after I fart and honestly I can't see it when I look in a mirror, although I think I do maybe feel a little hardness right inside the anus sometimes. Baths are about the only thing that give me instant relief.

Do you think it will go away on its own?

Hemorrhoids refer to the swollen veins inside the rectal and the anal region that are painful and cause itching and bleeding. It has been estimated that more than half the population of the world suffer from this condition at least once in their lifetime.

Hemorrhoids are one of the most common conditions that affect both adults and children from all over the world. Some of the symptoms of hemorrhoids include burning sensations, itching, swelling, burning sensations, and inflamed veins in the rectal and the anal regions. The hemorrhoids are characterized by blood in your stools or toilet paper. Knowing your symptoms is just the first step towards curing the problem.

It is important that you educate yourself about hemorrhoids to know the different methods available to treat these. Hemorrhoids can occur anytime and to anyone, without any kind of warning. It is unlikely that you will even realize that you have hemorrhoids until the hemorrhoids has enlarged and is causing you irritation, pain and bleeding.

The exact reason for the occurrence of hemorrhoids is not known. However excessive pressure exerted on the rectal region while passing stool, sitting for long periods and lifting heavy weights are the contributing factors. Pregnant women may also develop hemorrhoids due to excessive pushing of the infant during childbirth.

Hemorrhoids are classified into external and internal hemorrhoids. There are times when an internal hemorrhoid gets pushed out of the anal opening. This happens when the bowel pushes the inflamed portion out. This is known as prolapsed or protruding hemorrhoids. The protruding hemorrhoids may get inside the anus by itself, or it will need to be pushed inside and at times it does not go back at all. This is the first and second degree of protruding hemorrhoids.

There are times when a blood clot may form in the anal region. This is known as thrombosed hemorrhoids. This type of hemorrhoids is extremely painful and causes discomfort. It also has an effect in the blood circulation in that region. This is the third degree of prolapsed hemorrhoids.

The protruding hemorrhoids are itchy and may also leak a fluid. This cases a lot of inconvenience to the person in his/her regular life. It will be difficult to walk, sit and do other regular chores. There might be bleeding in the event of the hemorrhoids getting strangulated. It is required that you get the hemorrhoids examined by a doctor. It is important that you report immediately if you notice any severe symptoms. It is easer to treat first and second degree hemorrhoids. A surgery may be recommended to treat the third degree kind of hemorrhoids.

Both the types of hemorrhoids require proper treatments that will help avoid blood loss and infections. There are a number of treatments that are there to treat the conditions. Some of the options include homeopathy, over-the-counter medicines, herbal remedies, and surgery. However you must try your best to avoid surgery. There are herbal remedies that work very well to reduce the inflammation and the pain. It also helps prevent the recurrence of the condition.

There are many ways you can prevent the occurrence of protruding hemorrhoids. It is important that you make certain changes in your dietary habits to incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily food intake. These contain a lot of fiber and are very helpful to enable you to have a properly functioning digestive system. Fast food should be avoided at all costs. These dietary changes will help you to pass stool without constipation and prevent the occurrence of hemorrhoids.

Another effective way to prevent the condition is to drink a lot of water. This keep the stool soft and you can relieve yourself without exerting excessive pressure in the rectal region. One must avoid the consumption of tea, coffee and other beverages. Also, regular exercises are an important way to improve the blood circulation in all parts of the body and avoid hemorrhoids. However you must take care that you do not do exercises that put a lot of strain on your rectal and anal muscles. This will only aggravate the situation.

The treatment for internal and external hemorrhoids is not the same. It is best to let the protruding hemorrhoids be absorbed into the body slowly over weeks. Warm baths, creams and ointments are very helpful to provide relief. Protruding hemorrhoids are not life threatening and can be very well taken care of.

Protruding hemorrhoids will not persist for over a couple of weeks if you have taken care to soften your stools that do not require you to strain while relieving yourself. While most of the times you can resort to over-the-counter drugs or herbal remedies to counter the problem, if the condition persists, it is best to seek expert advice.

Hemorrhoid is one of the most common medical conditions that affect a number of people worldwide. It is a painful condition that causes much discomfort to the afflicted. Hemorrhoids refer to the tissues in the anal regions that have been inflamed due to straining during the bowel movements. These veins are situated inside the rectum and generally there is no pain that is felt, until the region swells and gets inflamed. There are also times when there is some bleeding and sometimes it feels like you want to defecate.

There are different types of hemorrhoids. Therefore before you think about a cure, it is required that you know the type of hemorrhoid that you have. Once you know the kind of hemorrhoid that you have, you can find the solution as well. Hemorrhoids can happen both internally and externally. There are times when the internal hemorrhoids protrude outside the anus. This condition is known as prolapsed hemorrhoids. You will feel a lump while wiping your anus. These hemorrhoids will either go back inside your anus by itself, or you will have to push it back gently inside. Hemorrhoids are not serious if treated in the initial stages. However it might cause much pain if treatment is delayed. It might even require a surgery to remove the hemorrhoid.

While hemorrhoid can be extremely painful, it is reassuring to know that it is not a life threatening condition and that it can be treated. If your hemorrhoid condition is not that serious, the doctor might ask you to use an ointment. You may also buy the ointment yourself without going to the doctor. Hemorrhoid ointments present an excellent way to relive the pain caused by painful hemorrhoids. This is the first remedy for people who are on the lookout for an affordable solution. While some people immediately seek surgeries to get rid of the hemorrhoids, one must not overlook the beneficial properties of ointments in treating the condition. The surgical procedures often turn out to be much more expensive than the over-the-counter ointments that can be purchased easily.

Hemorrhoid ointments have been used for a number of years and it is one of the most effective treatments that one can find in treating the hemorrhoid. Though ointments will not get rid of the hemorrhoid quickly it provides a very effective way to relive the patient of pain, discomfort and bring sensations. Ointments are immensely effective as these have anti-itch properties that help to treat itching sensations that are caused by the condition. The ointment also prevents the occurrence of further infection that is caused by scratching the region.

Hemorrhoid ointments work by blocking the nerve endings. This helps to bring much relief to the affected regions. Regular application of the ointment not only provides temporary relief but also helps to prevent future occurrences. When applied, the ointment coats the skin around the anal region and relieves the discomfort caused by the condition. The ointment can be used for both internal and external application. You can seek the help of medical professional if you are unable to apply it internally yourself.

Hemorrhoid ointments are not very expensive and come at affordable prices. There is also no need to visit a doctor and seek expert advice. These medicines can be bought over the counter without any prescription. Hemorrhoid ointments are extremely helpful in bringing relief from the pain and discomfort. Having these ointments with you will help you prevent the itchiness. However if you are suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure or any such serious conditions it is best to seek the doctor's advice before using the ointment.

There are a number of hemorrhoid ointments that are available in the market today and you can select from the best brands. These are specially formulated to treat the condition. Before buying you can check the ingredients and choose the one that would work best for you. The ointment can be applied a number of times during the course of the day or as and when needed. The ointment can be used before and after the bowel movement. It helps to keep the affected parts calm and reduces itching, inflammation and pain. Our number one recommendation is Amoils.

It is also required that you incorporate some other methods as well to help you get relief from the painful condition of hemorrhoid. Dietary changes play an important role in preventing the occurrence of hemorrhoid. It is important that you consume food high in fiber to prevent constipation. Fresh fruits and vegetables are very important to help keep the digestive system clean and ensure healthy bowel movements. Also, drinking 8-10 glasses of water is essential for a well functioning digestive system. The importance of exercises cannot be undermined in treating hemorrhoid. However you should avoid exercises that put strain on your anal muscles.

Hemorrhoid ointments, together with some lifestyle changes, present an easy and effective way to help treat hemorrhoids.

A hemorrhoid is a common ailment that happens to both men and women. These are enlarged painful swellings in the anal regions. According to statistics, 50% to 85% of the population of the world has been affected by hemorrhoid at some point in their life. Every person suffering from this condition is on the lookout for an effective remedy. Fortunately hemorrhoid can be both treated as well as prevented in most of the cases. While searching for a remedy you must look for something that not only gives temporary relief but also treats the hemorrhoid permanently.

Hemorrhoids are often the result of the swelling and the rupturing of veins in the area caused by excessive pressure. There are a number of factors that are responsible for the increased pressure in the area. Recurring constipation, obesity, diarrhea, and pregnancy are some of the causes that lead to hemorrhoid.

While modern science has a number of medicines to treat the disease, there are many effective remedies as well that can bring immediate relief. Chemical creams and ointments, while often recommended can have side effects on the body and may not cure the disease permanently. Another practice is to remove the hemorrhoid through surgeries. These are not only painful but also cost a lot of money. The patients also have to suffer from negative side effects after the surgery.

There are a number of safe and effective home remedies to treat the condition of hemorrhoid. Whether it is slight itching or painful swellings, these remedies can treat a broad array of conditions. If you are eager to cure your hemorrhoid you will need to address the condition at the earliest. It will do no good to ignore it and the problem can get even worse if it is not treated soon.

Herbs are used extensively to treat the condition of hemorrhoid. You can apply aloe vera directly on the painful swellings and it relieves the pain and also soothes the burning sensations. You can also use goldenseal root, bayberry, white oak and myrrh to relive the pain caused by the bloody swellings. You can brew Lady's mantle and apply on the swellings with a cotton ball a number of times everyday. Witch hazel is also known to relive the pain caused by hemorrhoid. Olive oil and baking soda are other natural hemorrhoid pain relievers. These heal the strained blood vessels and also help in softening the bowel movements. Simply applying these directly on the affected parts brings a lot of relief to the anal regions.

For a lot of people making a few changes in the lifestyles helps in treating and also in preventing the disease. One of the most important tips to treat hemorrhoid is to avoid straining while you are relieving yourself. Straining at the time of passing stool causes irritation as well as painful swelling in the rectal area which in turn causes hemorrhoid. If you want to keep hemorrhoid at bay it is important that you do not strain. For this you must make sure to consume a lot of fruits and vegetables to have a healthy digestive system. It is very important to eat foods that are rich in fiber. It is important that you stay away from digestive problems at all costs. This in turn makes it easier for stool to pass without you having to strain.

Another helpful remedy is to avoid sitting in one position for long. Sitting in one position for prolonged periods without any break can worsen the situation of hemorrhoid. If you are in a job that requires you to sit and work for long hours, it is important that you get up every few minutes and take breaks.

An effective home remedy to treat hemorrhoid is to drink a lot of water. Hemorrhoid cause a lot of pain and stress and to avoid this you must see to it that your bowels are always soft and easy to release and do not cause any strain in the rectal region. You need to make sure that you are drinking 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Drinking a lot of water keeps the system hydrated and is very beneficial for your overall health. Also, make sure to avoid beverages that comprise coffee or alcohol. These drinks cause constipation and dehydration.

Exercises are also recommended to treat hemorrhoid. Also it is required that you practice good bowel movement. Ensure that you do not hold off for long the urge to use the toilet. This would cause strain in your pelvic region. Make sure that you do not sit for very long in the toilet as this too will aggravate the condition.

These home remedies are extremely helpful to treat the hemorrhoid in the initial stages. If followed properly these ensure that you do not have to face the discomfort and the pain of hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoid is a common condition of the anal and the rectum region that affects a large percentage of the world population. Though not life threatening, it causes itching, pain and discomfort to the afflicted. Hemorrhoids can occur both inside as well as outside the anus. Hemorrhoids located internally are referred to as thrombosed hemorrhoids and these generally form a clot on the inside of the anus. This is how it has got the name "thrombosed". Thrombos means inside.

Generally thrombosed hemorrhoids are formed on the veins in the rectum region just under the skin. There are also external thrombosed hemorrhoids that can be seen on the outside and felt. It is a mass of bloody tissues that swells out of the anal region with a blood clot. The blood clot can be of the size of a pea and it may appear red or blue in color due to the accumulation of blood. The external hemorrhoids are very painful and disturb the normal routine of a person. These generally disappear within a couple of weeks.

Hemorrhoids usually happen to people who suffer from constipation or who have irregular bowel movements. Apart from Hemorrhoidectomy there are also many other surgical ways to help shrink the hemorrhoids.

- Infrared coagulation - This helps to remove the hemorrhoids from the body through the use of infrared radiation.

- Rubber band ligation – In this method a rubber band is used to tie the protruding hemorrhoids. This stops the supply of blood to the varicose vein. This in turn causes the hemorrhoids to disappear.

- Sclerotherapy - Through this method a chemical solution is injected in the affected regions which cause the hemorrhoids to shrink.

Some people are lucky to not have contracted thrombosed hemorrhoids. There are a number of ways you can prevent it from happening. A balanced diet that includes lots of dietary fiber and also drinking a lot of water is helpful to prevent the occurrence of hemorrhoids. These help to soften the bowels and prevent constipation from happening. This will in turn keep hemorrhoids at bay.

Other tips include avoiding sitting at one place for a long time. If you are in a job that requires you to sit at desk for long hours, it is best to take short breaks so as not to put undue strain on the muscles of the region. You must also avoid lifting heavy items. Obesity is one of the major causes that lead to the hemorrhoids. It is important that you lose all the extra flab to prevent the hemorrhoids from happening. Also, avoid aggressive use of the toilet paper. This will only aggravate the situation.

Hemorrhoid is one of the most common problems affecting millions of lives all around the world. Many are embarrassed to report the problem. However it is of utmost importance that the problem be treated at the earliest to prevent it from getting complicated requiring painful surgeries. One of the most common symptoms of hemorrhoid is a foul smell. Many people are distressed with the bad odor that is the result of hemorrhoid. This prevents them from going out, socializing and hampers their daily life. The good news is that there are a number of ways available to counter the problem.

It is important that you first know about hemorrhoid to treat the problems associated with it. Hemorrhoid happens when veins in the anal and the rectal region get swollen and are painful. These can either happen inside the anus or outside the region. Both are painful and need to be treated at the earliest.

Though the exact cause of hemorrhoid is not known, there are a number of factors that lead to this problem. Improper bowel movements are the number one cause of this condition. Hemorrhoid is also the result of sitting at one place for a long stretch of time. If your work requires you to sit at one place for long periods, it is advised to take breaks and go for walks. This is an important way to avoid getting hemorrhoid. Also, sitting in the toilet for long exerts a lot of strain in the anal regions leading to hemorrhoid. Obesity and pregnancy are other factors that have been known to cause hemorrhoid.

There are a host of herbal remedies that are available to treat the condition. You can apply aloe vera, witch hazel in the affected regions. These not only give immediate relief from pain but also help to remove hemorrhoid permanently. These are any day better than the surgical ways to remove the hemorrhoid. However the herbal remedies work only if the hemorrhoid is in the initial stage. In the later stages it is best to opt for surgery. There are a range of surgical procedures that one can opt for.

Apart from hemorrhoidectomy, the traditional surgical way to cut open the hemorrhoid, and remove it from the body, there are also now available laser treatments to get rid of the hemorrhoid. This is far less painful. In surgical procedures it takes a few weeks for the hemorrhoid to heal. There also might be a few side effects after the surgery. The best way is to treat the condition while it is still in the initial stages.

There are a number of easy and safe ways to get relief from hemorrhoid. One of the best ways to get rid of the odor is to take sitz baths. Preparation-H cream, Medicated pads, Witch-hazel ointments and a number of other over-the-counter medications have also been known to help in treating the condition. Wiping the affected parts with a fresh scented towelette and applying powder of deodorant might help keep the smell away.

Apart from treating the condition one must also take care to see to it that the disease does not recur. There are a number of preventive measures that one must adopt in order to keep hemorrhoid at bay. The first method is to eat right. It is best to avoid consuming fast foods, refined or processed foods. These contain high amounts of animal fat and very less fiber. Doctors recommend a diet rich in fiber to keep the stool soft. There is thus no straining required at the time of passing stool. This prevents hemorrhoid from occurring. Some of the best sources of fiber are fruits and vegetables. Drinking adequate quantities of water is also important for a healthy digestive system. This allows for proper bowel movements and helps avoid the occurrence of hemorrhoid.

Having right bowel habits will help to bring down the chances of contracting hemorrhoid. When you feel the urge to pass stool you must do it immediately as delay might lead to hard stool causing straining in the anal region. After each bowel movement it is important that the anal region be cleaned properly. Avoid aggressive wiping of these regions. There are people who like to read in the toilet making them sit for longer duration than usual. This must be avoided. Exercises also help in keeping hemorrhoid at bay. Be careful of the exercises that you do, weight lifting might cause straining of the rectal muscles and lead to bleeding. Cycling too might cause pain so it is best to take expert help before you embark on an exercise regimen.

Though not a life threatening condition, it is required that you take proper steps to cure hemorrhoid to save yourself the pain, discomfort and foul smell that it causes.

Here are some of my thoughts on hemorrhoids surgery.
There are millions of people in the world who suffer from the painful condition of hemorrhoids. A number of people are embarrassed by the problem and try to live with the discomfort and pain associated with the condition. However there are treatments galore to help relieve the pain. There are two kinds of hemorrhoids, external and internal. While the internal hemorrhoids are located on the inside of the anal region, the external hemorrhoids are situated on the outside. Both can be swollen, itchy and cause discomfort.

In hemorrhoids the blood vessels in the rectum region swell and enlarge to form big swollen clots of blood. While these may not hurt initially, it becomes very painful in the later stages. The first indication of the occurrence of hemorrhoids is itching in the region. The condition becomes severe if attention is not paid. There are a number of reasons for the occurrence of hemorrhoids including hyper tension, high blood pressure, obesity, bad food habits and digestive problems. Hemorrhoids can also be genetic. These happen to pregnant women as well.

In extreme situations the hemorrhoids may bleed and become swollen. One of the symptoms of acute hemorrhoids condition is when the swollen mass of tissue starts to come out of the anus. In these cases surgery is the best option. Thanks to the many innovations in the medical field there are now a number of surgical procedures that are available to treat hemorrhoids. Opting for hemorrhoidectomy surgery to get relief from hemorrhoids is the best solution to get lasting relief.

People suffering from the condition may resort to various non surgical procedures to treat hemorrhoids. However there are some people who may not respond to these methods. In such cases it is best to resort to surgery to treat the condition. Many people are faced with the dilemma whether they should opt for surgical procedures in order to be free from hemorrhoids. The answer will depend on the severity of your condition.

Before seeking surgery you must try out the other measures such as topical medications, intake of fibrous items and practicing good hygiene. Many people have found out that the right lifestyle have worked wonders in preventing the happening of hemorrhoids. However if the condition still persist even after having resorted to these practices you might want to opt for surgical procedures.

Hemorrhoids Surgery is performed by cutting away the swollen parts. It is done after applying local anesthesia in the region. This is usually an outpatient procedure and the patient can go home immediately after the surgery is over. A person who has been operated upon will be required to rest for a couple of weeks. During this period it is required that the patient eats right, gets adequate rest and stays away from any kind of strenuous activities.

As hemorrhoidectomy is a painful procedure some patients prefer stapled hemorrhoidectomy. In this procedure the hemorrhoids is stapled into the tissue. This is not only takes less time but is also less painful than the conventional surgery. Laser surgery is also one of the common ways to remove the hemorrhoids. Through this method the hemorrhoids are excised and vaporized. This is regarded as one of the most precise procedures and it can be done without much complications.

Atomizing Hemorrhoids is one of the latest techniques in removing the hemorrhoids surgically. The hemorrhoids tissues are atomized and reduced to particles. It is vacuumed away in just few minutes. Sclerotherapy injects chemicals into the hemorrhoids and dissolves them thus removing them completely. There is also another kind of surgery that involves passing electric current through the hemorrhoids.

However it must be known that there maybe side effects and complications after the surgery. A few of the side effects may include post-operative pain, post-operative bleeding, incontinence and swelling. It is always best to seek expert advice immediately if these happen after surgery.

If you are not keen to undergo surgery there are many other ways you can treat the disease. One of the best ways is to soak the area in warm water or apply hot compress. You can also apply ointments in the affected region. Eating right, drinking lots of water and exercising are also very helpful to prevent the occurrence of the condition. It is best to treat the symptoms as soon as these come up so that you do not have to undergo painful surgical methods later on.

The non surgical procedures focus on the softening and the smoothening of the stool that cause less irritation and also less swelling. Non surgical procedures are good only in the initial stages. When the situation is aggravated, surgery is the best solution. Depending on the severity of the condition there are different surgical procedures that the patients can choose from. It is best to consult a doctor before opting for a surgery to get rid of the hemorrhoids.

First off, thanks for the great site, it has been by far the most useful site I've come across on the internet. Right now, I'm out of work and have no plans to visit a doctor, but I definitely have a hemroid. I am looking for any additional information someone can offer. And also if I am being an idiot not going to the doctor, my initial thoughts are to wait at least a week before I consider a doctor visit.

So I have an external hemroid about the size of a blueberry (looked at it and it looks exactly like pictures I saw online). There has been no bleeding or signs of blood. I am a 32 year old male and in very good shape. On Friday I had a large bowel movement where I strained quite a bit. I felt uncomfortable afterwards but not in pain. On saturday I had another bowel movement that was quite uncomfortable. However it wasn't until I went to the gym and exercised that things became painful. I came home, looked with a mirror and saw the hemroid, like a fleshy blueberry right on the side of my anus. I can sit, cough, walk. I can do all this, but with an accompanying pain (mild pain). The exercising seemed to really push things over the edge, making the problem go from "I feel funny after a bowel movement" to "straight up pain". I plan to wait until next thursday before even thinking of consulting a doctor. I figure a couple of days of taking it real easy should make things go away. I plan on icing it, laying down mostly, eating prunes, only wiping once with wet toilet paper after a bowel movement and then taking a shower, drinking lots of chamomile tea and avoiding alcohol, meat and dairy.
