Hi and welcome.
You seem very stressed. I want to assure you that nothing is going to happen. It will go away, you are right and so does your doctor. First of all, start by removing your attention from it. Just ensure the proper hygiene to the problem and a good diet.
On web you mostly find crap (except our site :), of course). People that had a successful hemorrhoids surgery generally don't share their thoughts on this, for several reasons: time, privacy, etc.
If is still burns after 2-3 days, try a natural solution (check our treatments page). Most probably, the dehydratation produced by the alcohol activated the little monster.
I am also against of curing hemroids with surgery, I always say that this is the last thing patients should do.

I have 1 internal hem and a small skin tag from a fissure from several years ago. Neither bother me or cause any problems. I eat well and exercise almost daily. However, due to circumstances I can't figure out, I had a really bad BM a few weeks ago. A few days later, I had a curious itch down there. No pain, no bleeding. The itch went away after a few days. I went on a trip and drank lots of alcohol over a weekend. When I returned, the itching came back with a vengeance and so did some pain when I passed gas. It got worse over the course of a few days so I went to see my butt doctor. He is not a surgery crazy doctor, very conservative...thank God. He took one look and said it was a small thrombosed hemorrhoid...or a blood clot as he called it initially. He said it was not a big deal, nothing serious and would go away in a few weeks.

However, that was yesterday and today the itching has returned and it's sore after every fart. Maybe he got it inflamed when he poked that thing in there to inspect it? The LAST thing I want is to have this thing just continue to get worse over time. Like most everyone who has turned to the web for information on hems, 99% of the posts are utter nightmares that make you want to slit your wrists when reading them. I have never seen a single positive response from anyone who ended up getting surgery...just horrible nightmare posts.

What I have is very small, just irritating...literally. It itches, is only sore after I fart and honestly I can't see it when I look in a mirror, although I think I do maybe feel a little hardness right inside the anus sometimes. Baths are about the only thing that give me instant relief.

Do you think it will go away on its own?
