Topic: have an appt to see the doctor on thursday but should i go to the ER

discovered what appears to be hemroids on monday and made an appt to see my doctor unfortunatley the earliest i could see him was a week from thursday.  the hemroids arent particulary big but they are defenetly down there and uncomfortable.   there has been little to no bleeding, but itchty and im not moving my bowels as frequently as normal but still moving about once a day ( twice if im lucky).  I am 30 years old and in good shape,  what worries me is the lack of bowel movements and the prospect  of it getting worse, just wondering if i should visit the ER this weekend or just wait for my appt on thurs.  also i am a smoker does excessive coughing make them worse?  also i am still running on a daily basis as it is the best way to get a movement going should i cut down on the running until they are gone?

Hi there, welcome to our forum. I have moved your thread in the proper section.
If the hemorrhoid is not seriously bothering you (and it seems it's not), wait for the appointment. Don't worry about the bowel movements, treat them as usual (still, you may want to change some things related to this - period of b movement, the way you sit on toilet, the paper you use - make it a soft one, as for babies, and so on). Do your proper exercises as always, but try to focus on the affected area: don't put pressure on it, don't lift heavy weights, and so on.
I don't know of any extensive studies that relate smoking with hemorrhoids. But, as you know, smoking affects the heart and the veins. Hemorrhoids are nothing but weak veins.
In the end, a good solution for your health would be to quit smoking, I'm pretty sure your doc will agree with me on this one.
